Como Se Juega El Domino

Overview

Dominoes is a tile-based game played with rectangular tiles with two square ends. Each end is marked with a number of pips, or dots, ranging from zero to six. Dominoes are played by two or more players, and the goal of the game is to be the first player to get rid of all of their dominoes.

History

The origins of dominoes are unknown, but the game is thought to have originated in China during the Song Dynasty (960-1279). The game was brought to Europe by Italian missionaries in the 18th century, and it quickly became popular throughout the continent.

Equipment

A set of dominoes typically consists of 28 tiles. The tiles are divided into seven suits, each suit representing a different number of pips. The suits are:

  • Blanks (0 pips)
  • Ones (1 pip)
  • Twos (2 pips)
  • Threes (3 pips)
  • Fours (4 pips)
  • Fives (5 pips)
  • Sixes (6 pips)

Setup

To start a game of dominoes, the players shuffle the tiles and then each player draws seven tiles. The remaining tiles are placed in a pile in the center of the table.

Gameplay

The player with the highest double (a tile with the same number of pips on both ends) starts the game. The player then places the double in the center of the table. The next player must then play a tile that matches one of the numbers on the open ends of the double. For example, if the starting double is a 6-6, the next player could play a 6-2, a 6-3, or a 6-4.

If a player cannot play a tile, they must draw a tile from the pile. If the player can still not play a tile, they must pass their turn.

The game continues until one player gets rid of all of their tiles. That player wins the game.

Scoring

If a player wins the game, they receive points for the pips on the tiles that their opponents have left in their hands. The player with the most points at the end of the game wins the match.

Variations

There are many different variations of dominoes. Some of the most popular variations include:

  • Block dominoes: In this variation, players can only play tiles that match both of the open ends of the previous tile.
  • Draw dominoes: In this variation, players can draw tiles from the pile at any time, even if they can play a tile.
  • Muggins dominoes: In this variation, players can score points by playing tiles that match the ends of multiple tiles.

Tips for Playing Dominoes

Here are a few tips for playing dominoes:

  • Try to get rid of your high-scoring tiles as soon as possible.
  • Pay attention to the tiles that your opponents are playing, and try to block them from playing their tiles.
  • Don't be afraid to draw tiles from the pile, even if you can play a tile.
  • Have fun!
